An All Progressives Congress, APC, member of the House of Representatives, Ishaq Kana, has said that his party could soon crash and split into factions.
Mr. Kana, who represents Keffi-Karu-Kokona constituency of Nasarawa State, told journalists that the imposition of party leaders mostly in the north- central states by some interim leaders of the party will cause the crisis.
He accused the interim North Central vice chairman of the APC, Ahmed Aboki, of actions that could de-stabilise the party. He claimed the vice chairman is working with fifth columnist who decamped from Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC to create confusion and give the ruling party a chance to break the ranks of the opposition.
He also accused Mr. Aboki of not consulting stakeholders in taking decisions.
He said, “Some times I will only hear certain decision on radio without my input or other stakeholders,” he said. “I have complained severally to governor Almakura to call the vice chairman to order, but despite the intervention of the governor and his promise to make amends, he still repeats same mistakes.”
Mr. Kana therefore called for the removal of Aboki and also warned that unless urgent steps are taken to address the imposition of local party leaders, the APC would crash.
Mr. Aboki could not be reached for his reaction as his telephone was switched off.
