Army Advises Adamawa Churches to End Night Vigil End-of-Year Service Earlier

The 23 Brigade of Nigerian Army in Yola urged Christian community in Adamawa to finish their end of year church services on December 31, 2013, Tuesday, by 10 p.m. latest.

The recommendation was contained in a statement by Mr. Ja’aafaru Nuhu, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Brigade.

He said that the suggested time was because of the existing 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew still in force in the state.

“The Headquarters of 23 Brigade wishes to bring to the notice of the general populace of Adamawa State that the imposition of curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily is still in force. While we all know the importance of night prayers, especially at the last day of the year, we need to consider the best interest of the general public,” he said.

The PRO pledged the commitment of security agencies in the state to the safety of life and property and urged the public to sustain its support and cooperation towards the goal.

It would be recalled that Adamawa is among three northern states living under the state of emergency since May 2013.
